Who We Are

Our Story

Akua was an Ashanti woman forced into slavery and taken to Jamaica, She was captured during the early years of the Ashanti Empire war. She escaped Captivity and was a herbal healer treating slaves and anyone who needed help. She was opposed to slavery and racism and dedicated to healing. In 1759 Akua Was recognised as a ardent leader and crowned Queen of Kingston eventually she may have been involved in the taky, rebellion and given the role Queen of Ashanti.
